When we decided to paint our girls’ bedrooms last year, we let them decide on a them for each. One loved horses, so she asked that her room look like she was in a meadow with horses running around her. Starting with blue for the sky, I then painted from the floor up. Closer to the baseboard I painted some beautiful grass, then above that went the green for the fields. But she was careful to make one specific request – she wanted a hill with three crosses.

How many other girls have you ever known that would have requested this? For a couple of hours I took great care in painting those crosses, complete with a tiny sign on the middle cross reading “King of the Jews.” I wanted her to be proud of her room, because she is proud of her Savior.

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ…” – Galatians 6:14a
