This is a picture I took overlooking the Tennessee River from atop the Raccoon Mountain pumped storage facility.

Water is pumped from the river, then stored in a man-made lake on top. When energy is needed in peak hours, the water is then dropped through the mountain through turbines to create electricity.

I grew up on this river, and in these mountains. This is my Tennessee. If you are ever in the area, I’d be happy to take you to this very spot. Together we could praise the Lord for His beautiful creation.

  1. I would gladly let you take me there!
I grew up near the Genesee River in New York, and this is in many ways similar (it is also where the “Grand Canyon of the East” is located). It would bring back memories as well as cause much in the praise department.
